We held our very first blessing of animals on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at 4:00 PM outside in the garden next to the garage area. This event was held in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, whose feast we celebrated on October 3, 2021. We had many people in attendance along with their adorable pets. Fr. Roland, our associate pastor, organized a short prayer service and blessed all the animals with holy water.
A prayer for your pet:
“Blessed are you, Lord God,
Maker of all living creatures.
On the fifth and sixth days of creation,
you called forth fish in the sea,
birds in the air and animals on the land.
You inspired St. Francis to call all animals
his brothers and sisters.
We ask you to bless these animals gathered about us.
By the power of your love,
enable these creatures—our sisters and brothers—to
live according to your plan.
May we always praise you for your beauty in creation.
Blessed are you, Lord our God, in all your creatures! Amen.”
