The Ascension of Jesus
This is the moment when Jesus returned to Heaven with his Father, after having fulfilled his mission on earth!
In the Gospel of St. Luke 24, 50-53 it is narrated how, after giving the last instructions to the Apostles, he took them near Bethany and while blessing them, raising his hands, he ascended to Heaven. The Apostles watched him walk away until he disappeared in a cloud.
With his Ascension to Heaven, Jesus opens the doors for us to follow him. The Ascension is for all Christians a symbol of hope, for we know that Christ is seated at the right hand of the Father, interceding for us and that one day we will be able to enjoy eternal happiness with Him. For this reason, we celebrate the feast with a solemn Mass.
