Lent is essentially an act of prayer spread out over 40 days. As we pray as a parish, we go on a journey, that hopefully will bring us closer to Christ and leave us changed by the encounter with him. We are trying to instill in our community the importance of not making ambitious commitments, but to keep things simple and focused. As we experience weakness and suffering during Lent, we should be renewed in our compassion for those who are hungry, suffering, or otherwise in need. Lent is a personal journey that leads us to meditate on the death and crucifixion of the lord. We live Lent, in family, to transmit the love of our faith and, in community, to strengthen us and to bring us closer, because a community that prays together remains together.
